A calm, respectful and informed approach to Kambo.

What is Kambo?

Kambo is a Natural Medicine. It comes from the secretion of the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog phyllomedusa bicolor, from the rainforests of the upper Amazon. It’s part of the healing and empowering side of nature.

Used by the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon for generations to cleanse, strengthen and energise the minds and bodies of the hunters. Or as medicine for malaria, fever, infections and snake bites or to clear away dark or negative energy known as panema.

The Marubo use Kambo for two principal reasons - to rid the body of harmful impurities, including bad luck, and to imbue the body with power, energy and good luck.

Why People Come to Kambo

There’s no single reason to come to Kambo and no precise experience or outcome can be promised.

In my limited experience it’s a powerful natural medicine if you keep an open mind and the beauty of it is that it’s so adaptable.

The abundance of bioactive peptides are very appealing but it’s more than that, the intelligence of nature helping us holistically on a mind body and soul level.

For me, it’s most important to meet each person where they are, listen to why they’ve come and provide a calm and supportive space in which they can have their own process.

What to Expect

Before attending, you will be asked to complete a health screening questionnaire and receive guidance on preparation.

When you arrive, there’s time to settle in, talk through the process and ask any questions. We begin the ceremony. You drink water and small superficial burns called gates are made on the outermost layer of the skin. The medicine is applied.

The effects can begin quickly and may include heat, flushing, change in blood pressure, nausea and purging. This usually lasts 20–30 minutes, then there’s time to rest, recover and gently come back to yourself.

We close the ceremony, have some food and talk through your process if you wish.

I was suffering at the time with some negative effects from plant medicine ceremonies I’d been to which were not safely held spaces and the effects of just having gone through topical steroid withdrawal which left me shaken up and a bit stuck physically and mentally.

I fell in love with Kambo after the second treatment because I could see and feel that it was working in many ways, some unexpected. I attended more ceremonies and felt called to work with the medicine more deeply, learn more about it and hopefully in time to serve it. I want to be able to help others that are having a rough time and looking for answers because I know what it’s like.

My own journey has been difficult at times. I’ve had issues with drug addiction and mental health from young until my early thirties when, at a low point, in desperation I asked God for help. My prayers were answered and since then it’s been a journey of self discovery. Not easy or straight forward but certainly worth while.

It is my honour to have completed the basic training with the IAKP and now be working with and serving this medicine that I love. I hope you can join me on this journey of healing and self discovery. Love and freedom from suffering for all beings 🙏

Testimonials

“Chris provided a great introduction to Kambo and really positive first experience of the ceremony.

He’s calm and knowledgable, and made me feel safe and at peace.

It was really interesting experience. I can’t say I enjoyed the purging element but the searing heat, activation and clarity it brought to my third eye chakra was amazing and has stayed with me.”

Health & Safety

Your safety and wellbeing are the most important considerations when working with Kambo.

Kambo creates a strong physiological response and is not suitable for everyone. Before a booking is confirmed, you will need to complete the confidential Health & Safety Screening Questionnaire so that anything requiring further discussion can be identified.

Completing the questionnaire does not automatically mean that it is appropriate for you to receive Kambo. If there are concerns, these should be discussed before any ceremony is arranged.
